Lamp(S)
The design is thought around the way of production, making it easy to make multiples through slip casting for one of the components (Shade) and wheel throwing for another one (Stand), making it possible to create a series of lamps for the home environment. the light fixture is 3d printed using PLA filament that contains wood fibers and the cord is wrapped with hemp cord.
While designing the 2 side cup one of the prototypes stood out due to its shape and visualized it in larger scale being a sculptural object that doubles as a lamp.
The requirement for this project is that one component is slip casted and another one is wheel thrown. I decided to make the shade of the lamp slip casted to be able to play with thicknesses and be able to do multiples in a short period of time.
The base on the other hand is the wheel thrown component due to the simplicity of the shape and giving me the ability to play with the height of the lamp.
3D visualization made using Rhinoceros 3D and Modo
This is the result of many iterations. now is when I picked the ones I liked better and then preceded to design the light fixture, pick the kind of cord I wanted to use and the type of bulb.
Custom parts
I designed the light fixture to be easy to install by screwing the 2 parts onto the lamp shade, giving the user the ability to replace the LED strip with ease. 3D printed with PLA filament. Modeled in Rhinoceros 3d.
